Kūmarahou · Plantain · Kawakawa

$34.00

60ml - 2fl.oz.

This moisturising balm is not whipped and is slightly firmer than the other tallow creams. It’s suitable for dry, sensitive & everyday skin. The combination of tallow and botanicals such as kūmarahou, plantain and kawakawa make this blend ideal for eczema, dry skin, sensitive skin, mild dermatitis, and irritated skin.

Tallow is nature’s most traditional skincare ingredient and has been used for thousands of years by our ancestors. It hydrates, softens, protects, repairs and renews. Tallow mirrors our skin’s natural sebum, making it extremely bio available. It moisturises like nothing you ever experienced, absorbs into the skin beautifully so you are not left feeling greasy. It’s rich in skin-loving ingredients like vitamins A, D, E, K, B12, and essential fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory properties.

Kūmarahou is a native New Zealand shrub traditionally used by Māori for skin conditions. It soothes inflammation and supports eczema-prone skin. ‍

Plantain is one of the world’s classic wound healing herbs. It’s deeply soothing and supports the skin barrier.

Kawakawa is a traditional Māori remedy for various skin conditions like dry irritated skin, eczema and psoriasis. We wild harvest our kawakawa and infuse it in organic jojoba oil.

Ingredients: NZ Certified Organic Tallow, Jojoba oil*, Beeswax*, Kūmarahou, Plantain*, Wild Kawakawa, Essential Oils of Lavender* & Mānuka*, vitamin E.

Suitable for hands, face and body. Child friendly.

Handcrafted and sustainably made. The tallow used in Rewilding Skincare products is 100% grass-fed from certified organic and regeneratively raised cattle from the Waikato area. I lovingly purify, render and deodorise every batch from my home in Waipu, NZ.

Organic - why is that important?

Rewilding Skincare is made with organic tallow which is free from pesticides and herbicides. When an animal or human body is exposed to fat-soluble toxins, such as certain pesticides or industrial chemicals, it moves them to fat cells to sequester them away from the bloodstream and other vital organs. Storing these chemicals in fat is a survival mechanism to reduce their immediate impact. But these toxins are not easily metabolized or excreted, and are thus transferred up the food chain. Whether we ingest or apply animal-based products topically, both end up in our bloodstream. Your skin is your largest organ and 60% of what you put on your skin gets absorbed into your bloodstream. This is why ORGANIC matters.

Additionally, opting for organic supports soil health, biodiversity, and reduces chemical runoff. We are spraying this place with powerful antibiotics, like glyphosate. That’s anti-life. We are covering our beautiful planet with an invisible layer of dust that is making its way into our bodies. Let’s stop spraying Mother Earth so she can breathe.

Silent revolution - There's a growing movement towards tallow skincare for various reasons, from a trend towards sustainability, provenance and a nose-to-tail approach, to the rise of cottage-core and homesteading, a quiet rebellion driving the return to a more traditional lifestyle, and of course, the clean beauty mega-trend. In its simplest form, in an increasingly complex world, tallow skincare represents a return to a simpler way of living.

How to Use

A little goes a long way. Tallow is firmer in colder climates and softer in warmer climates. On colder days rub a small amount between your fingers or palms before applying to your skin. On really warm days, you might like to pop your jar in the fridge. Apply to your skin for protection, hydration and healing.
